The real reason women are craving something more
There’s a moment many women hit—usually somewhere in their late 30s or 40s—where they start asking: Who am I… outside of everything I do for everyone else?
In this episode, I talk with Christina McEvoy, who works with women in exactly that season. And instead of calling it a “midlife crisis,” she reframes it as something entirely different: A midlife rebirth.
From travel creator to transformational guide
Christina’s journey began with travel photography, blogging, and digital products. But over time, her passion shifted. Instead of documenting travel, she realized she was passionate about what travel does to people, specifically women.
Now, through Your Limitless Adventures, she creates intentional group trips designed to help women:
step out of their daily roles
reconnect with themselves
and experience growth through challenge, nature, and community
Why travel changes you (especially as a mom)
Travel—especially international travel—has a way of stripping away your routines and your typical identity makers. You’re no longer managing the schedule, packing the lunches, i.e. the one holding everything together. You get to just be you. In this episode, Christina describes it as being “cracked open”—in the best way.
My experience in Guatemala
I joined Christina on one of her trips to Guatemala, and I can honestly say it was transformative. You’ll hear me say that word a lot in this episode. From the very first night, every woman showed up open, honest, and ready.
We hiked a volcano (six hours uphill for this Mama who lives at sea level!), paddleboarded at sunrise, and had some of the most meaningful conversations I’ve had in a long time. But what stood out most? The ease. I often looked around at the group and saw every woman looking…relaxed! The smiles that filled their faces were of pure joy — perhaps many were happy they weren’t the ones planning, perhaps many were happy to be soaking up the moment.
Doing hard things changes how you see yourself
One of the core elements of Christina’s trips is challenge. Not for the sake of proving something—but for the sake of remembering: You can do hard things.
Whether it’s hiking a volcano, trying something new, or traveling for the first time. These moments spur growth and build confidence that carries into everyday life.
The power of women in community
There’s undoubtedly something different about being around women who are open, grounded, and genuinely happy to be there. There was no competition, no comparison, no drama. The willingness I felt from every woman from night one to have deep and meaningful conversations made the whole experience feel authentic.
You don’t need a trip to start
While not everyone is booking a trip to Guatemala tomorrow, Christina shared something simple we can all do: create space. Get outside, go for a walk without the distractions (aka leave the phone and AirPods at home, ladies!) and be alone in your thoughts. Notice nature. Breathe. We could all use more of this.
